A Free Spirit with a Passport
Hi. Welcome to my corner of the internet. Around the World with Rob is my invitation to you. It’s about exploring this planet—the cultures, the sights, and the chaos—with the "Free Spirit" mindset that lurks in all of us.
While my home is in South Africa, I consider myself an International Man and a Nomadic Citizen of the Planet. My soul places? The wildness of Africa and the history of Greece.
My passions are simple: People, animals, and living without regret. I can be cynical, but it's always filtered with kindness.
How I got here (The short version)
One day I’ll get a real job... Not!
My career actually began with Hotel Management Training in Torquay, England. However, the ocean had other plans. I earned my Coastal Skippers certification with a grand goal to sail around the world. As it happens, life diverted my path, but the passion for exploration never left.
The Viking Connection
For the last 11 years, I have served as a Program Director with Viking. My "office" is the river network of Europe. From the Rhine to the Danube, I’ve spent over a decade guiding guests through the heart of the continent.
When I am not on assignment in Europe, I am off on my own adventures—usually heading back to the African bush or the Greek islands to recharge.
