For a travel buffet of choices, South America definitely ranks up there as the best continent for you to go for a vacation getaway.

Travel South America and any country in the continent and generally you’ll discover this land has everything that a typical traveler would be looking for.

Whatever you’re in to…if it’s waterfalls and beautiful scenery or rivers and rain forests, perhaps bustling city life with lively music and dance, South America can give it to you. Travel in these parts and you cannot get bored.

Travel to Peru

This really is the trip of a lifetime! Imagine exploring the ancient and mystical ruins of Peru, bargaining at the Sacred Valley markets, sampling the seafood in Lima, climbing up the Inca trail to Machu Picchu and so many more memorable moments.

Design a great travel itinerary and you will not be sorry. Really good travel deals and trips are easily available. Machu Picchu, a world heritage site in Peru is one of the most beautiful and fascinating locations to visit in South America.

Machu Picchu is high on a ridge, embraced on three sides by the Urubamba River 2,000 feet below. The remains of an urban Inca Empire at the zenith of its power and evolution tells us how advanced the people were.

Peru is divided into 25 regions and the province of Lima. The word Peru is derived from Birú, the name of a local ruler who lived near the Bay of San Miguel, Panama, in the early 16th century.

Venezuela

Venezuela is among the most urbanized countries in Latin America; the vast majority of Venezuelans live in the cities of the north, especially in the capital, Caracas, which is also the largest city.

Sadly, at time of writing, Venezuela is going through some very challenging times politically and is very unstable and not recommended for travel. 

Paraguay

The overall climate of Paraguay ranges from subtropical to temperate, and like most lands in the region, Paraguay has only a wet and dry period.

Argentina

Argentina officially the Argentine Republic, located in southeastern South America is a federal republic. Covering the majority of the Southern Cone, Bolivia and Paraguay are at its borders to the north, with Brazil to the northeast.

Uruguay and the Atlantic Ocean are to the east, Chile to the west and the waters of the Drake Passage to the south.

Uruguay

Officially called the Oriental Republic of Uruguay and sometimes called the Eastern Republic of Uruguay. An estimated 88% of the population is of European descent.

Brazil

The word “Brazil” comes from brazilwood, a tree that once grew plentifully along the Brazilian coast. Blessed with sun drenched beaches and a passionate people, Brazil remains an attraction to many as a top South American travel destination

Colombia

Colombia has a very diverse culture, made up of the original native inhabitants, Spanish colonists and African people originally brought to the country as slaves and  immigrants from Europe and the Middle East.

Try out visits to new places and cultures and you will never feel you have seen it all. South America, in particular, is one of 2 continents, the other being Asia, that can provide such a variety of travel options.

Indigenous Community Forest Enterprise in the Peruvian Amazon from Rainforest Alliance.

The Rainforest Alliance’s Sustainable Landscapes team worked with indigenous communities in the Madre de Dios region of the Peruvian Amazon to develop forest-friendly enterprises that support conservation and guard against the environmental threats of illegal logging and mining.
