Paris to the Swiss Alps

Explore Paris & sail the Rhine

As an itinerary, Paris to the Swiss Alps is something different. No matter which direction you start, be it Zurich or Paris, the experience is both enriching and very exciting.

Starting in Paris, guests fly into Charles De Gaulle airport and, once through customs and with bags in had, are greeted by our Viking reps at the arrivals hall. The process is then a Viking one….organized and smooth where guests can put their brains in neutral and go with the flow.

We take care of everything as we begin the Paris to the Swiss Alps experience. 2 days in Paris means that you are going on tour and then, if you choose, you can go on the optional night excursion and experience a real French cabaret show in the heart of the Latin district. It is memorable and thrilling to spend this time in Paris.

Once we have seen many of the sights of Paris, our guests are always keen to get on the road and get to the ship. We take the coaches on a Friday morning and head off to our first stop in Reims, an outstanding town that is everything you would imagine a French town to be. The cathedral, cafe’s and stores are truly magical.

Another city that will bookend your Paris to the Swiss Alps cruise is Zurich. This was a city founded by the Romans in 15BC. It is one of the oldest continuously-inhabited cities in Europe.

Permanent habitation dates to around the Roman time of city proclamation. But that, for Europe is really modern times. Inhabitants of the area date back even further, to the 5000-6000 BC period. Nowadays Zurich offers visitors a beautiful old city, lake and fine architecture along with museums, wonderful restaurants and places to watch the world go by.
